Raqib

Support Worker

Hi, I'm Raqib and I am now employed as a Support Worker since I completed the Step into Care programme back in November 2020.

What were you doing before you enrolled onto the Step in Care programme?

I was unemployed looking for new roles when I enrolled onto the Step into Care programme.

Did you find your placement beneficial to you?

The placement was beneficial to me as it enabled me to gain an insight into the role first-hand, I was able to talk to other staff members about what the job involves. I also had the opportunity to engage with service users, listening, interacting and finding a little bit out about each individual person.

Can you give a brief overview of the role you successfully gained through the Step into Care programme?

The main aspect of my role is to support people to be as independent as possible. The people we support are the focus point of my work. I am really looking forward to working with other staff members as part of a team, enabling us to get the best outcomes in a safe and professional manner. I appreciate the fact that I can now help other people and support them in their day to day living.

How do you feel the Step into Care programme supported you?

The Step into Care programme has supported me tremendously! It has guided me into employment and I have been able to gain advice and support at any time throughout the programme.

Where can I go from here?
