I was a barber and because of Covid-19 I was forced into not working. It gave me a chance to think about my career and what I really wanted in life, deciding this was to care for others and make a difference to peoples lives.

I learnt so much from attending the Step into Care training course, it really helped me prepare for my career in social care. The Zoom classes were great, and I enjoyed engaging and working with the other students in the virtual training.

My placement was very beneficial to me as it enabled me to experience the role, as well as prove myself within the role. This ultimately supported me in gaining a permanent role and achieving my goal of a career in care.

I love my role, it enables me to care for people and provide person centred care. By caring and making sure the people I support are ok, makes me happy. I know I have a positive impact in people’s lives each day. I enjoy everything about my job, it's amazing and I am proud to care!

The Step into Care programme has been amazing! I was given so much support both during the training and by the Employability Manager who really supported me in finding a vacancy that would suit me. This programme has had a really big impact on my life as I see a great future for me now in care.
