Support Worker
Hello! I'm Andrea and I am currently working as a Support Worker after I completed the Step into Care programme.
What were you doing before you enrolled onto the Step in Care programme?
Before I enrolled on the Step into Care programme, I was employed as a sous chef.
Did you find your placement beneficial to you?
I completed a work experience placement which was 24 hours in total, it was extremely beneficial to me as it gave me a greater understanding of what it is like to work in a care setting.
Can you give a brief overview of the role you successfully gained through the Step into Care programme?
I look after the well-being of people daily, assisting individuals with physical disabilities and mental health needs. I provide the residents with physical and emotional support. On a day to day basis my duties include helping with meal preparation, household chores, administering medication, accessing community facilities and meeting with friends and family.
How do you feel the Step into Care programme supported you?
I really enjoy supporting the individuals on a daily basis, and more importantly have finally achieved job satisfaction!
