Apprenticeship Week 2022- Schools and Colleges
The GM Health and Social Care Careers hub is excited to announce our program of virtual events for Apprenticeship week. These are available for all students in years 9-13. Each session will support you in meeting the Gatsby benchmarks- 1, 2, 4 and 5.
- 7th February- 10:30-11:30- NHS Apprenticeships- Nursing Associates
This workshop will investigate the role of a nursing associate as an alternative to a registered nurse. During this session students will have chance to people within these roles and learn more about how they can get into this profession. A nursing associate can join following college and can have the opportunity to progress to a registered nurse through an apprenticeship. It is a great alternative to the traditional university route. Either individual students or a teacher can sign a class up to this: Students OR Teachers
- 7th February- 13:00-14:00- Social Care Apprenticeships
This workshop will explore the range of apprenticeships open to people within Social care, addressing the range of roles and opportunities that are available. This session will address both clinical and non- clinical roles and will show the high prospects of having a career within this rewarding profession. Either individual students or a teacher can sign a class up to this: Students OR Teachers
- 8th February- 9:00-10:00- Women in STEM
During this talk students will see hear from women working within a range of roles in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths within the NHS. Students will have chance to hear about their roles and pathways and ask questions about these professions. This session is ideal for anyone but specifically girls who might want to pursue a career in STEM. Either individual students or a teacher can sign a class up to this: Students OR Teachers
- 9th February- 13:30-14:30- Careers Insight: Estates and Facilities
The NHS has over 350 roles and a key area of this is estates and facilities. This session will explore some of these roles which include: Catering, Engineering, Pluming, Security and many more! This session will challenge peoples assumptions of the NHS as just having healthcare roles and highlight some of the opportunities available to young people once they finish school or college. Either individual students or a teacher can sign a class up to this: Students OR Teachers
- 9th February- 9:00-12:30 - Speakers for Schools: NHS Careers- Apprenticeships
This insight day is delivered in collaboration with Speakers for Schools and will feature a mixture of workshops and talks around NHS apprenticeships. It will focus on a range of roles that are available and is suitable for those who would like to work within healthcare, but however is unsure about what some of the options are outside of going to university. **Students can sign themselves up individually here
- 10th February- 8:30-8:45- Meet Your Future-: Apprenticeship Week- Form Time Information Session
This session is part of the “Meet your Future” program delivered in partnership with GMCA. This session is a short information session about the apprenticeships available within health and social care and is designed to be delivered during form time. The sign up for this event will be available via Eventbrite shortly.
- 11th February- 12:00-13:00- NHS Apprenticeships- AHP Assistant Roles
This workshop will investigate the role of an Allied Health Professional Assistant. These support the work of Allied Health Professionals, for example speech and language professions or physiotherapists. Students can go into these roles following college and can have the opportunity to progress to a registered AHP through an apprenticeship. Allied health professionals are very rewarding careers that students often don’t know about. During this session students will have chance to people within these roles and learn more about how they can get into this profession. It is a great alternative to the traditional university route.
