Gwen began working in the NHS in January 2008 in a temporary role, completing administrative tasks. After 18 months in this role Gwen applied for her current role and was successful in her application, enabling her to begin to expand upon her knowledge and experience to date with the Speech & Language Therapy Department

What do they do?

Gwen’s role is really varied, completing daily admin tasks to support the team in the smooth running of the department as well as delivering communication programmes that have been set by a Speech and Language therapist, to patients as instructed. Gwen’s duties also include checking for telephone messages and deal with any telephone queries within the department, adding new referrals to the system, booking appointments for the therapists, taking any referrals over the telephone and ensuring all internal post is taken to the post room each day

What’s the best thing about their role?

One of the most rewarding aspects of the job for Gwen, is when patients achieve their goals after many months of hard work

Where are they going from here?

Gwen has completed lots of training and support from her team whilst in her current role and is looking forward what her future holds in the NHS
