I’m Alison, a Specialist Registrar in Vascular Surgery, training to be a Vascular Consultant at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
I had a flare for human anatomy and I also like doing operations!
The best part for me is operating and improving people’s lives
My job can be stressful at times. I cope with the stress because I know that I have done the best I can in any situation. Out of work, running helps me forget the stress
Each day is different for me; this is partly the reason why I like my job. My role varies between theatre, clinics, interventional radiology sessions, covering the wards and being on call.
The proudest thing for me as that I have saved limbs and people’s lives
I aim to pass my final exams and gain a consultant post within vascular surgery
I would say, never stop following your dream. With a lot of hard work and perseverance you can do anything
