Kelly is a Facilities Team Leader supporting the management team that deliver services in portering, domestic cleaning, linen services and stores where goods are received into Trafford General Hospital which forms part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT)
Kelly left school not knowing what career path she wanted to go in, deciding to go to college and completed an NVQ in leisure and tourism. Kelly decided college was not for her and began working in the NHS as a domestic cleaner, after eight years in this role Kelly had taken on lots of responsibilities and successfully gained a supervisory position within her department. The facilities manager saw lots of potential in Lucy and began mentoring her to gain knowledge in lots of areas within facilities. Kelly completed a level 3 ILM qualification in management supported by the NHS giving her the opportunity to complete Functional Skills in Maths and English as part of the qualification as she did not achieve these at school. Kelly was then successful in securing her current role and has been in this role for over a year.
Kelly has a busy role, each day she has to check her emails and speak with supervisors in all departments to ensure there are no issues, attending regular meetings to ensure standards are met, if there are any issues Kelly will action these accordingly. Kelly has the responsibility of inputting rotas on the system and the hour’s staff have worked to ensure wages are paid, also managing staffing issues and attendance management. Kelly has to collate information on a weekly basis on the services provided to enable her to send this to her manager at the end of each month as well as having regular contact with outside suppliers. As part of Kelly’s role she is also the manual handling coordinator ensuring all staff within Facilities are up to date with training in this area, delivering the training to staff when it is needed.
Kelly works with a great team of people and enjoys every aspect of her role and the people that she works with!
