Janet is a Clinical Administration Supervisor managing medical secretaries and medical personal assistants for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group
Janet’s first role was a Clerical Assistant at her local health centre supporting Health Visitors and School nurses. She took an opportunity to complete the AMSPAR (Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice managers, Administrators and Receptionists) which then enabled her to progress to a Medical Personal Assistant position in paediatrics before moving to her current role of Clinical Administration Supervisor
Janet provides a staff management service including workload planning, holiday and sickness management, personal development planning and staff induction. She also monitors the transcription status of the digital dictation system ensuring that all dictations are transcribed within the Trust’s transcription targets. She uses a number of electronic systems to support the clinical administration service to identify any issues which could impact on not being able to deliver a first class service at all times. Janet has attended numerous training courses in order for her to progress throughout her career including AMSPAR, Medical Terminology, Team Leadership and Business Administration
Janet has great job satisfaction and the knowledge that as a team they have been able to provide a professional and efficient service to patients and clinicians. Janet says ‘Working for our Trust makes me feel proud and happy as I work with a great team
Janet is happy with her current role, although as she has now gained managerial experience hopefully she will have the opportunity of applying for a higher banded job role
