Vicki is an Assistant Practitioner, working within the City Care Partnerships (CCP) team. Vicki studied psychology at university and now works as part of CCP’s Central Support team, who develops and implements Positive Behaviour Support strategies across the organisation
Vicki left university aged 21 to work in a mental health trust. After 18 months she decided that she wanted to work with people with learning disabilities and joined CCP where she felt she could develop her own knowledge and make a real difference to people’s lives.
Vicki has a very interesting role supporting staff teams to understand more about why a person may be displaying challenging behaviours. This includes visiting the service and conducting observations, doing assessments and inputting and analysing the data, writing support plans as well as coaching and modelling support to staff teams. Vicki has also been instrumental as part of the Health Action Group, helping the people in CCP to lead healthier, active and fulfilled lives.
Vicki loves the variety in her role as she visits all different services and works alongside all different people. She loves that she can help the staff teams and the people they support communicate and understand each other. She also enjoys seeing the successes and achievements of the people that they support and the fulfilled and active lives they lead
Whilst working for CCP Vicki went back to university to complete an MSc Health Psychology degree. CCP allowed her to reduce her hours and work around her university days. CCP also helped Vicki to achieve BTEC level 4 Positive Behaviour Support qualification with support from her manager who offered guidance and advice
She works closely with the all the people that CCP supports rather than just one single service. Vicki particularly likes encouraging people to achieve a better quality of life so they can do all the things that they enjoy
