Adeline is a supported placement carer, working within the team at PossAbilities and currently supports young individuals in their transition from children’s services to adulthood, providing a placement within her home and supports in building independent living skills, as well as health, social and emotional support.
Adeline has always worked in care, working in the area of care homes, residential learning disabilities and support work. In her current role, Adeline supports individuals to manage their own service fund budgets, whilst implementing a person centred care plan and is currently the Autism Champion throughout the PossAbilities organisation.
Adeline is currently supporting a young lady who is soon to be a care leaver, actively supporting her independent living skills such as cooking, maintaining a home, budgeting, planning for the future and supporting her in life in general. Part of Adeline’s role encompasses supporting with accessing different services dependent on the individual’s needs such as health appointments and her responsibilities also involve maintaining paperwork in line with the role as well as ensuring that she provides a family home and safe environment for the young lady she supports.
Adeline feels that she has had brilliant support from her placement officer as this role is relatively new to her. She feels that her role is more of a family rather than a job, enjoying shopping trips and holidays with the people she supports.
Adeline is happy in her current role and wants to continue to watch the individuals she supports grow, gaining confidence and improving on skills to enable them to move on and begin their own life journey.
