I studied Psychology at University then started my career in Health and Social Care as a Support Worker
While working as a support worker I gained management experience by completing a management course (Apprentice Assistant Team Leader) this enabled me to progress to Assistant Team Leader and Area Team Leader
My role is very varied and includes over-seeing and supporting manager tasks, attending manager meetings, doing observations and spot checks. I support managers by mentoring, teaching and supervision and am involved in the recruitment and development of managers, carrying out audits around quality, financial and environment and monitoring audit actions. I also monitor the service progress for the people we support
My employer has supported me with Apprentice Assistant Team Leader training, further training, feedback, supervision and promotion opportunities
The best part of my job is seeing the people we support have positive experiences, overcome difficulties and achieve/succeed. Also supporting development of managers and the staff team, seeing people motivated and working together
I would like to progress to regional manager and manage/mentor registered managers
