what has your career path been prior to your current role?

I studied Psychology at University then started my career in Health and Social Care as a Support Worker

Can you give a brief overview of your career within H&SC to date?

While working as a support worker I gained management experience by completing a management course (Apprentice Assistant Team Leader) this enabled me to progress to Assistant Team Leader and Area Team Leader

Can you give an insight into your average day?

My role is very varied and includes over-seeing and supporting manager tasks, attending manager meetings, doing observations and spot checks. I support managers by mentoring, teaching and supervision and am involved in the recruitment and development of managers, carrying out audits around quality, financial and environment and monitoring audit actions. I also monitor the service progress for the people we support

How has your employer supported you in the progression of your career?

My employer has supported me with Apprentice Assistant Team Leader training, further training, feedback, supervision and promotion opportunities

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is seeing the people we support have positive experiences, overcome difficulties and achieve/succeed. Also supporting development of managers and the staff team, seeing people motivated and working together

Where are you going from here?

I would like to progress to regional manager and manage/mentor registered managers
