Debbie is a Personal Assistant working for a social enterprise that supports vulnerable people to live the life they choose. Debbie is part of the day services team, carrying out her duties within a day centre and her role is to support adults with learning and physical disabilities
Debbie originally worked in catering for many years. After working within the catering team in a residential home for the elderly; Debbie decided to apply for her current role as a Personal Assistant
As part of her role, Debbie encourages the people that she works with to get involved in lots of different activities and skills such as cooking and baking, arts and crafts, knitting, sewing, armchair exercises, gardening and mosaics. Debbie also supports adults on a one to one in activities such as shopping and going to the cinema. Within her role, Debbie supports in the personal care of the people that she works with, as well as support with meal times. Debbie completes session planners each day to document the activities that have taken place during the day
Debbie feels that the best part of her role is seeing the achievements of the people that she works with and really enjoys going to work every day
Debbie has had lots of training and support as part of her role, including hoist training and moving and handling and is currently really happy in her current role within the day centre
