Michelle began her career as a Secretary and then progressed into roles such as Administrator, Teacher, Finance Manager and Personal Assistant. She joined the NHS as a Secretary and then progressed to her current role of Secretary and Accommodation Officer

What do they do?

Michelle’s role is very varied, she completes tasks such as; distribution of post, booking of accommodation for Students, Doctors and Surgeons, typing of tenancy agreements, confirming and calculating deposits and rental payments, organisation of domestic staff to ensure that the rooms are cleaned, dealing with any general telephone queries, typing of letters and forms, inputting information into spreadsheets then sending out invoices to the various departments. She deals with on site requests for maintenance/repair jobs within the Hospital, organises meetings with internal and external staff to facilitate the progression of schemes being modernised/built on site and meets and greets people in reception. Michelle has been supported by the NHS with further training such as EDI, Level 3 NVQ in Business and Administration, BCS Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills, Levels 1 & 2 in Adult Numeracy and English and OCR Level 3 NVQ in Customer Service

What is the best part about their role?

Michelle enjoys meeting a variety of interesting people daily and being involved with a variety of tasks in a busy office, no two days are the same. She loves the challenge to resolve any problems as quickly and efficiently as possible which gives her a feeling of a job well done and a great sense of job satisfaction
