Events are taking place throughout the year where you can learn about careers in the NHS and talk to NHS staff and other professionals about the jobs they do. Below is a list of events coming up that you might be interested in as well as any external web-sites you can visit related to the event or where to register if you want to go along with the learners you work with.

What: TeenTech Event days are large scale regional events bringing together students from 30/50 schools across a region and over 140 scientists, technologists and engineers for a day of challenges and experiments. Impact of the events has been measured since 2008 and show a real shift in student perceptions, particularly amongst girls. Events run in 15 regions of the UK and the Republic of Ireland, each with its own regional steering group. The event day is just part of the initiative with schools working on projects both pre and post event.

What: The University of Salford would like to invite you to our Nursing, Midwifery & Health Sciences: Teachers' Conference 2017. The event will showcase the range of undergraduate courses and facilities within nursing, midwifery and health sciences. Taking place on the 15th November between 12:30pm - 16:00pm Teachers and Careers Advisors will be able to come onto campus to hear more about the programmes. Tours of our industry-standard facilities will form a core part of the afternoon, including our nursing and midwifery simulation suites, podiatry clinic and prosthetics and orthotics laboratories. Subject talks from academic members of staff will include: Midwifery, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Prosthetic and Orthotics and Radiography.

What: Salford Royal are inviting students from local schools to come and find out more about a wide variety of NHS professions and get some insight into what working in healthcare looks and feels like. Staff from a variety of Allied Health Professions will be on show to talk about how they provide input in patient care including Podiatry, Speech and Language therapy, Audiology & Occupational therapy. There will also be staff on hand from a variety of Healthcare science professions including Cellular Pathology, Medical Electronics, Clinical Biochemistry & Medical Microbiology. What: Salford Royal are inviting students from local schools to come and find out more about a wide variety of NHS professions and get some insight into what working in healthcare looks and feels like. The event is for students from years 10-13 attending schools in the Greater Manchester area. Schools can nominate a group of 15 students to attend on the day accompanied by a teacher. There will also be the opportunity for small groups of students to take part in short tours of the pathology department and local universities will be on hand to offer advice about courses related to these careers.
